On Tuesday, Feb. 17, At 6:07 p.m. UIC Police responded to a call for assistance from Chicago Police who were involved in a foot pursuit of two male motor vehicle theft offenders. The offenders fled northbound on Morgan St. from Maxwell St. on foot. The first offender described as a male approximately 16 years of age wearing a green jacket, orange hoodie, and light blue jeans, unlawfully entered a silver 2012 Kia Van at 1211 S. Morgan St. and forced the victim out of the vehicle and fled northbound on Morgan St. and Eastbound on Roosevelt. While fleeing the area, the offender struck a UIC Police Officer and Police vehicle. The Offending vehicle continued onto the Dan Ryan Expressway and out of the area. The officer was transported to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. The second offender was apprehended by police moments later.
This investigation is being led by the Chicago Police Department. Anyone with information should call 311.
